"Big Jet Plane" is a song written by Australian singer/songwriter Angus Stone, and originally recorded by Stone, under the name "Lady of the Sunshine", on his 2009 album Smoking Gun. It was then re-recorded by Stone and his sister Julia, as the duo Angus & Julia Stone, and released on their 2010 album Down the Way, as well as their 2010 EP Big Jet Plane.
"Big Jet Plane" was named Australian Recording Industry Association's Single of the Year for 2010 at the ARIA Music Awards of 2010, while Down the Way was named Album of the Year. The song featured on both Nova 100 and Triple J radio playlists and after winning Single of the Year was added to the playlists of stations such as Fox FM in Melbourne. On 26 January 2011, the song was voted number 1 on the Triple J Hottest 100, 2010.
The song has received a gold accreditation, having sold over 35,000 copies in Australia.
It gained additional success, especially in Europe, when it was remixed in 2011 as a house track by Australian DJs Goodwill and Hook N Sling, under the title "Take You Higher".

Chart performance
The week following the ARIA Music Awards of 2010, the song made a massive leap from #47 to #21 on the ARIA Chart, giving the song its peak position in its 22nd week of release. In total the song has spent 33 weeks in Australia's ARIA Charts. After the song was voted number 1 on the Triple J Hottest 100, 2010, the song reached #6 on Australia's iTunes songs chart, and re-entered the ARIA Charts at #32.
Cover versions
Papa vs Pretty covered the song at the 2011 Apra Music Awards. Goodwill and Hook N Sling remixed the song and renamed it "Take You Higher". Also in 2011, Jan Blomqvist covered and recreated an electronic version of the song.
In November 2015, Australian rapper Tuka and Thelma Plum covered the song for Triple J Like a Version, modifying the song with substantial additional verse lyrics. Tuka's cover was voted at 81 in the Triple J Hottest 100, 2015.
In September 2017, Brazilian DJ and producer Alok and French producer Mathieu Koss made a cover of the song.

The song can be heard in TV series such as 90210, One Tree Hill, Parenthood, and Suits.[9] It also appears on the soundtrack of French film Romantics Anonymous. A music video featuring scenes from the film was released on 9 November 2010. The song is featured in the film The Edge of Seventeen. It is also playing on the radio in a scene in the film Easy A.
The song is also featured in Season 5, Episode 6 of the TV series Suits.
The duo performed the song on French television show Taratata on 19 May 2010.
The song is heard in a Maybelline Fit Me commercial.
